| Trico Hatch on Missouri River |
The Missouri River Lodge and X-Stream Fly-Fishing invite you to enjoy Montana's finest fly-fishing. The Missouri River is a large tailwater dry fly fisherman's dream. Consistent hatches of caddis, PMDs, tricos, and grasshoppers bring large numbers of wild rainbows and strong brown trout to the surface throughout the season. A float trip can consist of 10 miles of rainbow trout averaging 18" with an occasional brown trout over 2 feet long. The Missouri River is a very technical stream so we provide you with the top guides to insure the most "Xstream" fly fishing experience ever. Size of flies and knowing the prime spots to fish are all things we at X-Stream Fly fishing study so all you have to do is catch "the big one".
Blackfoot River

While you are out in Montana one of the most famous and beautiful rivers is just an hour away. The Blackfoot River is a freestone river that offers any fly-fisherman the opportunity to try their skills at native west slope cutthroats. These trout as well as rainbows, browns, rare brook trout, and bull trout can all be caught on this magnificent stream. Using large attractive patterns almost guarantees that these fish will strike as if they have never eaten. The Blackfoot River offers countless riffles, pools and runs for you to try your nymphs, streamers and dry flies with the anticipation of catching a fish over 20 inches long on every cast.
Wade Fishing Get out of the boat for a change of pace and try wade fishing in smaller mountain streams just minutes from the lodge. These gin clear waters rarely see fisherman. It is a real chance to get away from all civilization and try your hand at throwing 0 to 4 weight rods at mountain rainbows and brown trout. The excitement of occasionally landing an 18" trout in a high mountain stream on light tackle is the essence of fly-fishing.
Other rivers to choose from are the Madison, Jefferson, Gallatin, Bighole, Clark Fork, Dearborn, Sun, Beaverhead and many others. |
