Missouri River Lodge 2011 End of the Year Newsletter

Wow!!! This year just seemed to fly by. We here at the MRL would like to thank all of you who paid us a visit in 2011. We had another remarkable year on the Mighty Mo. Big fish and big water all year. Lots of familiar faces and a bunch of new ones that have joined the MRL family.!
Big Fish of the Year.
Davis Wrinkle landed our biggest fish of the year. A Brown Trout that almost made the 27 inch mark. This mountain monarch gave us quite a battle, but Davis managed to land this beast with patients and persistence. He will receive a free day of guided fish next year as well as his name on our plaque for future trip bragging rights for years to come. Way to go Davis!!! Many of you that fished with us this last year had bigger fish on and could have had your name in his place. My advice is to come on back and try again. The Missouri will produce some very large fish next year! Yahoo!!!
Would you Believe It
This Sept I was guiding one our long time guests and we saw this monster that had defiantly lived a full life. This brown trout had died of old age, I am assuming. We manage to net him off the bottom and take some photos. This pig measured 31.5 inches and was guessed to weigh about 15 pounds. This proves that these pigs are out there and all it takes is that one luck cast and one like this could be in your photo album.
Water Levels
2011 brought us to an all time high. 24,000 cfs was a new record for us here on the Missouri. We maintained higher water levels for most of the year. This really scoured the bottom of our river which is something we have needed for a long time. This should bring our bug life back to the high numbers we had in the 90's. High water also makes healthier fish and more of them. 2012 we are expecting the best year we have ever seen for big fish and a lot of them. We saw all different year classes this year and the fish are all strong and healthy. So book your space now for 2012. That fish of a lifetime is out there waiting for you.
2012 Plans
We are expecting big things for our 2012 season. We are redoing all the decks at the lodge and are going to tie them all together. We feel that this will make the outside a lot more user friendly. We will be adding French doors in our dinning room to access the new deck. So book your trip and come see the new additions.
Hannah's Store is fully stocked with all these new items. Everything from glassware to fishing shirts, and fleece vests to hats. These all make great stocking stuffers as well as trip souvenirs. So if anyone needs a great Christmas gift, a fly fishing trip to Montana is a great place to start. Hannah can mail you a hat or shirt to wrap up as part of their gift.
Joe's Outfitting Operation. Joe has been guiding big game hunting trips this year for most of Oct. through Nov. He should have all of his 100 days needed to take his hunting outfitting exam. With this the Missouri River Lodge will be open through the middle of January and we will be offering big game (Deer, Elk, and Bear) as well as waterfowl and upland birds. We will keep all of you posted once all the paper work has been completed.

I am so Blessed with 2 Perfect Children, the most Amazing Husband (hick-ups and all, those of you who are married will understand that one, haha!) and our AWESOME Guests!! I have such a Great time getting to know each guest throughout their visit and when its time for them to head back to their families and lives, I feel that I have made an Everlasting Friend!! THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR BEING SO GREAT!!!
*I have a few New Tricks up my Sleeves in the Kitchen so hold on to your Socks, .this ought to be FUN!!!
